An oak window sill cover is simply placed over your existing window sill, without any chiselling or demolition work. This instantly gives an old stone or plastic window sill the warm look of solid oak. The window sill covers are 40 mm thick and available with different fronts: rounded, tapered, tightly sawn or with a live edge. Each cover is made to measure so that it fits precisely over your current window sill.
You are also in the right place for a wide or long window sill. Our window sills are available in lengths up to 350 cm from a single piece, suitable for large window fronts. And because every window sill is made to measure in our workshop, you determine the exact width and depth yourself.
Looking to buy a custom made oak window sill? We can make your solid oak window sill to measure in our workshop. In consultation with our experienced furniture maker Arjan Wolff, a lot is possible.
If you are looking for a custom window sill with a length of, for example, 34 cm, order the size above it (in this case 40 cm) and indicate your desired size in the comments field.
Here you will find the most frequently asked questions about wooden window sills.
A solid oak window sill is available from as little as 17.50 euros. The price depends on the thickness and the finish:
A window sill cover is a solid wooden window sill that is placed over your existing window sill. You do not need to remove the old stone or plastic sill: no chiselling, no dust and no building waste. The oak window sill cover is made to measure so that it fits exactly over your current window sill.
The most popular thickness for a wooden window sill is 30 to 40 mm. Which thickness suits your situation:
Oak is the best wood species for a window sill. It is hard, dimensionally stable and highly resistant to sunlight and the temperature fluctuations near a window. Softwood warps more quickly and is more prone to damage. All our window sills are therefore made of solid oak and delivered untreated, so you can easily finish them yourself with oil or lacquer for extra protection.
Our window sills are 100% solid oak, not an oak look made of foil or veneer on chipboard. You can see and feel the difference: the grain runs over the edges, damage can be sanded away and the window sill lasts for decades. An oak-look window sill is cheaper, but cannot be repaired in case of damage or moisture.
Yes, a wooden window sill is usually placed floating: the sill rests on the wall section below the window and is glued or clamped onto it, without visible supports or brackets. If the sill protrudes far or serves as a seat, consult our workshop about additional support.
Yes, an oak window sill can also be used in the bathroom or toilet. Do treat the sill in humid rooms with oil or lacquer, so that the oak is protected against moisture and condensation. That way, the window sill keeps its warm look for years, even there.
Yes, for large window fronts we supply XXL window sills up to 350 cm from a single piece, for example a window sill of 320 cm. Looking for a very long window sill of 360, 400 or even 500 cm? Contact our workshop: in consultation with our furniture maker, the window sill is then built up from several seamlessly connecting sections. We also make the depth to measure.
